July 2015: The two industrial engineers and sports fans Michael Weber and Johannes Diem regularly do their Freeletics training on the Theresienwiese in Munich, the area of the world-famous Oktoberfest. There the two friends are doing pull-ups on football goals.
A little later the construction of the Oktoberfest begins and the area is being closed. This makes an outdoor training there no longer possible and the opportunity for pull-ups on football goals is not longer possible. The two are creative and start to weld a first mobile pull-up bar in the father's garage for a tree in order to continue to work out outdoors.
At the end of 2015, further improvements are being made to the product. In late 2015, a patent is being registered for the world's first portable pull-up and dip bar.
Beginning in 2016: The two decide to open a Facebook page and to introduce the product, that time still named „mobile pull-up bar“ (mobile Klimmzugstange), to other athletes with pictures and videos. The feedback from the community is great and many sports fans want to have the product for their training. The two inventors improve the product more and more and more prototypes follow.
April 2016: The two inventors decide to found the FT Fitness Technology UG company to offer the product to many bodyweight athletes worldwide to support them with their training. Both founders are still active in their job as engineers and project managers. Shortly after, the brand and at the same time the product Pullup & Dip is launched. A purely German name was no longer appropriate.
For a first serial production, a larger order quantity and a lot of start-up capital is needed, which is why the two decide to prepare a crowdfunding campaign with Kickstarter.com.
August 2016: The crowdfunding campaign starts on kickstarter and the funding goal is reached within 24 hours. Therefore a first serial production can be started! After 30 days, the campaign has reached 366% of the funding goal and 227 supporters from over 20 countries have helped to bring the Pullup & Dip project to reality.
November 2016: 227 Pullup & Dip's are sent to over 20 countries worldwide, the community feedback is great! Shortly thereafter, the official launch takes place over the own online-shop. At the end of 2016 it is time for the founders to devote full attention to the project Pullup & Dip.
