With bodyweight training you can train the entire body - from the calves to the abdomen to the arms and to the shoulders. In this article we will explain the benefits of outdoor bodyweight training. Before that, let's answer the question of what bodyweight training is in the first place.
What is bodyweight training actually?
Bodyweight training is composed of self-weight exercises, i.e., the resistance in this training is mainly determined by the body weight and there is almost no use of aids such as fitness equipment and weights. However, this does not mean that you cannot additionally increase the loads by using special aids (e.g. pull-up bar, pull-up band, gymnastics rings, elastic bands). Well-known bodyweight sports include Freeletics or Calisthenics.
Typical bodyweight exercises are:
- Squats
- Burpees
- Lunges
- Crunches
- Sit-ups
- Push-ups
- Dips
- Pull-ups
Advantages of Bodyweight Training
The biggest advantage of the workout is that it can be done anytime, anywhere - whether it's at the office, in your own home, at the park, or at the beach. Everything you need for the workout is with you, namely your body.
Compared to strength training with free weights, the risk of overload and injury is significantly lower with deadlift training. In addition, the core, i.e., the torso muscles, are strengthened to a special degree. Overall, you burn significantly more calories with this form of training, which is especially advantageous if you are aiming for a low body fat percentage and a six-pack.
What are the advantages of outdoor bodyweight training?
In addition to the benefits explained above, there are other advantages to outdoor bodyweight training. The fresh air and sunshine alone provide an increased sense of well-being. The chirping of the birds in the background and the many smells of the meadows put you in a great mood and it is not uncommon for people who see you training to simply join you, so that a completely new training community is created, which additionally promotes motivation.
Reason n°1 for outdoor bodyweight training: Strengthening the immune system
We spend at least eight hours a day in the office, where we're surrounded by flickering screens and loud noises. So "escaping" into nature is just the right thing to do: outdoor bodyweight training not only boosts your mood, but also strengthens your immune system.
Reason n°2: You are completely independent
Another reason for outdoor bodyweight training is that you save time and money and that you are completely independent. Why pack your bag and drive to the gym when all you have to do is step outside to get fit!
Reason n°3: Exercise anytime and anywhere
With outdoor bodyweight training you stay completely flexible and you use your surroundings for the different exercises. For example, you can do pull-ups on gates, when they are occupied on the Pullup & Dip outdoor pull-up bar or use the stairs in the park to do sprints. This way you can make your workout as varied as possible. It's also a great way to keep fit while on vacation: Honestly, is there anything cooler than doing a workout on the beach and sipping a coconut afterwards? Probably not!

Reason n°4: Outdoor Bodyweight Training is a Tan Enhancer
Another reason for outdoor bodyweight training is the sun: You strengthen your muscles and get a nice tan, which helps you to achieve a healthy summer complexion. After the training you sit down at the lake drenched in sweat and let the sun enhance your tan, because sweat or water on the skin makes you tan even faster.
Reason n°5: You remain maximally flexible
Another aspect that speaks in favor of outdoor bodyweight training is the fact that it is not dependent on the weather: If it should rain or snow, you can simply move the training into your own four walls. As already mentioned: With this special training you remain maximally flexible and always adapt the training to your environment. This is how fitness training works today!
Outdoor bodyweight training is trendy, highly motivating and healthy.
Closeness to nature, closeness to everyday life and variety - these terms are currently in vogue. If you want to go with this trend and do something good for your health, you can't avoid outdoor bodyweight training! This is highly motivating and has various advantages over other types of training. We wish you a lot of fun and success with your bodyweight training!
